In Matthew 28:19, 20, the Bible says:
Go ye into all the world, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the earth.
This is the Great Commission that Christ has given to His followers today. We are to make disciples for Christ of all men, teach them God’s standard for living, and teach them to go out and do the same for their friends and neighbors.
Now more than a dozen years ago, Pastor Phamor began Bible trainings for Bible workers, school teachers, and lay members in several different areas in Thailand. And since then, he and the EOF have conducted multiple training sessions each year which has resulted in training hundreds of Karen, Thai and other people in the fundamental truths of the Bible, how to preach them, and how to minister to people’s physical needs through medical missionary work.
The number of young people from any given ethnic group who complete a ministerial program at an Adventist university and are willing to return to their villages as pastors is currently very small. This means that there are not enough trained pastors to maintain the existing churches and do any kind of comprehensive evangelism. So, we train SDA young people in how to be Bible workers and medical missionaries with the goal of equipping them to fill in the gap. We want to send them out as Bible workers prepared to do evangelism in unreached villages.
In addition to Bible workers, we also train our primary and secondary school teachers in the fundamentals of the Bible and Christ’s method for successful evangelism. This is so that they can effectively reach their students with the gospel.
In the book The Ministry of Healing, Mrs. Ellen White wrote…
Christ’s method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Saviour mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, “Follow Me.”
We believe in teaching Christ’s method of evangelism. We train our students not only in the basic teachings of the Bible and how to compellingly present them, but also how to win people’s confidence by being respectful and courteous and by helping with their felt needs.
Because most of our students come from poor areas of Thailand, Myanmar, or other countries in the region, we do not charge them for any classes or living expenses. All of our trainings are made possible by fellow believers both in the region and internationally. If you would like to know how you can help, please visit the Donate page.
